In a Garden of Small Dreams:

Art + Poetry in Conversation
July 21st - September 15th, 2023, NYPL Hamilton Grange Library.

Artworks by Shu Tu
Poems by Tricia Bogle

In the ekphrastic tradition, a poet responds to a piece of art by writing a poem. For this showcase, poet Tricia Bogle and artist Shu Tu expand the meaning of ekphrasis by showing art and poetry in dynamic conversation.

The 8 pieces featured here capture a dialogue between poet and artist that unfolds organically. In some works, the poem responds to the image; in others, the image responds to the poem; and in still others, poem and image speak as one.

Through these pieces, artist and poet explore shared themes of growth and loss, inter-generational relationships, and the lessons the natural world can teach about finding human connection. Taken together, these works shape an ongoing conversation that viewers are encouraged to join.

Limited Edition Giclee Prints are available for purchase, including both artist and poet’s signature and uniquely numbered. For more information, please contact us.
