Through her work, Shu Tu honors overlooked moments of everyday life, capturing their truth and quiet wonder.
Bio:
Shu Tu is a New York City–based artist working across ceramic and image-based pieces. Her work is rooted in quiet, everyday moments and develops through a process-led approach.
After more than two decades in the advertising and beauty industries, she transitioned to focus on her studio practice. She lives and works in New York City.
Artist Statement:
Shu Tu works across ceramic and image-based pieces, rooted in quiet, everyday moments. Earlier work held a sense of quiet and control, while more recent work is less settled, shaped by tension and a pull between holding on and letting go.
Each piece begins with a moment rather than a fixed idea, allowing form to develop through the process, whether in clay or image.
The work stays close to what is subtle and unresolved, holding space for what is still shifting.
