Through her work, Shu Tu honors overlooked moments of everyday life, capturing their truth and quiet wonder.

Bio:
Shu Tu is a New York City–based multidisciplinary fine artist. Her work moves fluidly across image-based and ceramic media, responding to moments rather than materials and allowing each work to take the form that best supports it.

After more than two decades in the advertising and beauty industries, Tu transitioned fully into her studio practice. She lives and works in New York City.

Artist Statement:
Shu Tu’s practice is rooted in attentiveness to everyday life. Rather than seeking grand narratives, she works from subtle observations—quiet shifts in feeling, fleeting moments of clarity, and small details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Her work begins with a moment rather than a medium. Each piece develops through the process that feels most suited to what she is exploring at the time, whether image-based or ceramic. Familiar forms and understated gestures become visual and tactile works shaped by responsiveness and restraint.

Through this approach, Tu’s work invites viewers to slow down and engage with the ordinary as something meaningful—holding space for reflection, stillness, and quiet wonder.
